I agree, I hate Real too. But for a while it was THE app for streaming media and I was forced to use it from time to time. Now I won't touch it with a 10-ft. pole.

Ok, to be honest, I think I only once ever used AOL, and that would have been thanksgiving of 2000 or 2001, when I went home with a friend of mine who used it. And for realplayer, no, I have rarely intentionally used it. I hate it. Even now, when helix player is installed by default with most linux distributions, I quickly do an uninstall after a full system install. I have to admit, I did use it a few months ago, because I couldn't get a webcast from cryptome in any other format, but for the most part, I will ignore content rather than use Real. I hate it that much. I would honestly rather use AOL than Real, but, then again, I would rather "format c: /u", although, to be honest, I would probably get a "bash: format: command not found" error from any machine I was on.

There is alot about this article that I dont agree with. Many technologies are being looked at relative to today. AOL, come on, yea it sucks compared to now but then. Where was the content better organized. Dont get me started with PointCast, easily updated content to your desktop sound like any other technology we use today?

Well I too have used #15 (you couldn't really get away from the things when I started at MIAD), and begrudgingly #8, but I've laso used #2. Come on Tex you've never used RealPlayer?! That's kind of hard to believe as Real content was pretty pervasive for a while. Interesting list though.
