So this is not my usual type of post by I did find it thought provoking.
Quote from the link:
By this point, I figured I’d better just keep to myself. So I got a jar out of the cafeteria and went into the woods. I got a bumblebee into the jar and put some flowers in there to keep him happy. I was poking holes in the top to let fresh air in when I was hauled off to the director again.
This time, he was really mad. He said, who did I think I was giving a “death sentence” to an innocent bee? He said I had no respect for the Earth and that it was people like me who were responsible for hurting the environment. He said I’ll be lucky if the world doesn’t end before I collect Social Security.

Fact or fiction?
Fictious story based on facts.
Sorry man I can’t say this is really based on fact. It’s the extreme right trying to criticize the extreme left. I happen to know for a fact that Boy Scout summer camps still allow the use of pocket knives (for those properly trained), teach gun safety and allow target shooting with real guns, and encourage grace before meals. The girl thing doesn’t usually come up in Boy Scout camp but there have been a few staff romances when girls are on staff. And there are usually camp-wide games with a clear winner at the end of the week. This guy is trying to sound intelligent and witty but he doesn’t even know what he is talking about. Now there may be some camps that are more “liberal”, but let’s not kid ourselves that there’s no where for the conservatives to send their kids.
I guess I took the story itself as more figuratively. Most of the specific instances have been found in the news across the country, hell I know some schools that have done a few of these things. My apologizes if it looked like I was pointing a finger at camps and or scouts I was not. It was just a compilation of many different stories that have popped up over the years. Our world is very different for kids today, even compared to when we were kids (which wasn’t that long ago).
Don’t worry man, I didn’t take it personally or anything. My point is simply that the extreme anything can try to point to examples of what they are rallying against but they rarely balance it with the fact that the other extreme exists as well. Yes, there are schools that have “outlawed” competition, yes there are people that freak out about gun control and yes prayer in school has been a hot button issue. But competition still exists (in the form of club sports or other games), the NRA is still going strong and private schools not only have prayer in school but full-blown church services. It’s all a balance. And yes, the world for kids today is a different place than when we were kids, but our parents were saying the same thing 20 years ago. The world changes, if it didn’t my 4 years as a Zoology major would have been pretty boring. This guy is just upset cause not everyone agrees with his views. That’s why I consider myself a-political. Politics are all about extremes and rarely about what is best for the people as a whole. That’s it, I’m done, the last thing I want to do is start a poitical debate on this board. Just wanted to clarify where I am coming from here. And, again, I’m not offended by the article or anything you said mr. o, I just respectfully disagree:)
