Just a thought… If the best the Democrats can come up with for 2008 is Hillary Clinton, they can just kiss their chances at the White House goodbye.
Don’t get me wrong, I would really like to see a strong Democratic candidate for 2008. The Republicans have been doing so well for the simple reason that the Dems have been doing so poorly. Many of my fellow moderate Republicans are quite unhappy with the spending habits of the current administration and the pull the far right currently has on the party. Just give the moderates a option that we do not despise and they might just have a chance! :End Rant

I don’t think you are exactly right in that comment, I think what we should do is change our political/ruling system, the constitution is just a “god damned piece of paper” after all. I think what we should do is rewrite it so that every 8 years we just switch back and forth between the families. Give Hillary her 8 years, then we could give Jeb 8 years, after that Chelsea should be old enough for her 8 years, then one of the Bush daughters could slide in there. After that, I am sure we could find a cousin or something from the Clinton side.
Obviously the switch back and forth has been good for the country so far, so where’s the support that this wouldn’t be the best thing for America?
All joking aside, I don’t always agree with you, but I think you do have a valid argument that you are making, and I wouldn’t necessarily call it a rant. But, thats probably because I do agree with you on this point.
I too like the balance between the parties and would really like some fresh outspoken candidates that are not elected because of who they are but what they stand for. As a Republican I disagree with many of the policies of the current administration. I don’t feel that they represent the majority of Americans and just barely represent the majority of Republicans. He got reelected because we looked at the alternative and said to ourselves that it is better to stick with the bad option we were already familiar with.. It’s almost inexcusable that the Dems couldn’t pull off a victory in ’04. It’s time for a change within our own party and I’m going to be doing what I can to make that happen. I believe this so much so that I would strongly consider supporting a centrist Democrat to ratchet the Republicans away from the far right.
I’d like to see and would consider voting for John Edwards, Russ Feingold or even Howard Dean, but would not even consider voting for Hillary as I just don’t like her and don’t think she has earned anything to warrant the office. That is except be the mistress (I mean wife) of the last President. She can’t even decide on her name much less real issues not written down for her.
I will say this again: If Hillary is the democratic candidate I don’t think the Dems have a chance at the White House. Competition is a good thing… Please support an electable candidate. Didn’t John Kerry teach you guys anything!?
Is it just me or am I always picking topics that I am on the defensive about?
Thank you for your comment though.
