This coming from the maker of the Hummer H2 and Chevrolet Suburban. The "Big Three" have been playing this card for years.  20 years of getting their butts handed to them by the Japanese and they still haven't figured out how to make money building quality fuel efficient cars.  Their answer has been to produce bigger and bigger trucks all while fuel prices and have been increasing.  I love the line too about American’s demanding larger vehicles.  The only reason the American public has had a chance to demand larger vehicles is because companies like GM have been responsible for lobbying against CAFE increases for 20 years.

Anyone need some articles about “America’s Oil Addiction” or perhaps some statistics about the enormous amount of fuel we already consume in this country to cart around 110 pound soccer Moms in 5000 lbs SUVs? I'd like to see even more agressive standards that would drive innovation and investment in the industry and actually reduce our dependancy on oil.  Time to start thinking long term.

Sorry, GM… Time to sleep in the bed you helped to create.  If the Japanese can build better more fuel efficient cars and actually plan for fuel price increases perhaps you should get out of the car business all together.

Here is a great piece of Russian Art.  I would love to see artwork like this just randomly around.

Far too often people write off insects as under-developed, lesser beings and nuisances. But they are just as capable of learning and adapting as any other "higher" life form on the planet.

Adaptive mating behavior

Probably not, but someone is looking to capitalize on their success.

Nintendo sued over alleged Wii Remote patent violation

I had no idea our bodies are "wired" to shut down the ability to process lactase. And to know humans have evolved different methods to get around that "wiring" is even more amazing!

What the Youth Think

An interesting little survey of teens in 10 major world cities.

I had no idea that Yahoo was doing this. It's an interesting idea and I think this quote is quite poignant: "In reality, DRM does little to stop such behavior[illegally sharing], but makes life harder for legitimate music users". It will be interesting to see if this takes off or not. I'm leading towards not but we shall see.
