Author Archive…at least to me. Honestly, it could have happened to anyone and I don't want to turn this into a Microsoft bashing post. But I find it hilarious that an audio file on a website could take control of your system! I can't be the only one finding these things…I know there are other slashdot readers posting here…does no one else find them as interesting as I do? http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/01/30/stonehenge.village.ap/index.html It can be yours for the low, low price of $150,000! http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/ghostbusters-ecto-1-car-for-sale Was this really necessary? Really? The scary thing is, there are contributors to this site who would buy one in an instant! http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/business/AP-Buzz-Doughnuts.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin OK, first of all I had no idea they were called "Googlebombs" until I saw this article but I thought it was interesting enough to post. Basic definition: using search phrases to get unintentional, often humorous results. For example "talentless hack" I believe used to take you to a page about George W. Bush. If not him, some other politically charged person. The most interesting part of the write up to me is Google's reasons for why they want to try and stop it. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/01/quick-word-about-googlebombs.html This is a wild looking beast. Pretty cool discovery. First really cool thing I've found in quite a while. It's been a slow month. This was just too cool not to post. Far too often people write off insects as under-developed, lesser beings and nuisances. But they are just as capable of learning and adapting as any other "higher" life form on the planet. Probably not, but someone is looking to capitalize on their success. I had no idea our bodies are "wired" to shut down the ability to process lactase. And to know humans have evolved different methods to get around that "wiring" is even more amazing! I had no idea that Yahoo was doing this. It's an interesting idea and I think this quote is quite poignant: "In reality, DRM does little to stop such behavior[illegally sharing], but makes life harder for legitimate music users". It will be interesting to see if this takes off or not. I'm leading towards not but we shall see. http://www.infoworld.com/article/06/12/06/HNyahoomusicdrmfree_1.html While this is quite interesting and very cool, I'm not sure I can support the idea of calling it a "computer"… When interactivity goes wrong… http://www.thesuperheroquiz.com/ OK so this may be slightly juvenile but I thought it would be fun. And I am quite curious to see what my fellow JohhnyV'ers would be I am 90% Green Lantern and have strong will power and a good imagination. http://michaelcastellon.blogspot.com/2006/11/kfcs-logo-first-to-be-seen-from-space.html This is so silly and mind-numbingly pointless it has left me speechless… |
