Ive been working on a bunch of new updates for the site. For many reasons Im rushing this update a bit due to a wordpress security issue. Please explore the new options, let me know if something is not working. I will get to explaining all the new features, however that may not be soon. Life getting in the way of life.
Shame on you Phil Gramm. You are only proving that you and your cronies are out of touch and unfit for any sort of leadership position in this country.
I was talking politics with a coworker a few days ago and said something that didn't really sink in until after I had said it. I was born in June of 1979, which means that for nearly my entire life minus just 6 months there has been a Bush or a Clinton in the White House. Kind of scares me to think our government is run by such a small group of people and essentially members and associates of two different families. I’m excited about the prospect of this not being the case this fall! There are essentially three styles of government:
1. Autocracy – Single self-appointed ruler. 2. Oligarchy – Small elite segment of society rules. 3. Democracy – Majority rule largely directed by the citizens.
Our current system puts us right between an Oligarchy and a Democracy.
How can the candidates debate faith but not science. According to Shawn Lawrence Otto of ScienceDebate2008.com "… an April 18 debate in Philadelphia, is looking less and less likely. Obama has declined, Clinton has been non-committal, and McCain has been non-responsive."
Shawn Otto goes on to say, "Perhaps among the moral issues discussed should be whether they have a moral obligation to more fully engage on science issues, since the future viability of the planet may hang in the balance, for starters. Is there a larger moral imperative? How about the future economic health of the United States and the prosperity of its families? Science & engineering have driven half our economic growth since WWII, yet but 2010 if trends hold 90% of all scientists and engineers will live in Asia. Then there are the moral questions surrounding the health of our families with stem cell research, genomics, health insurance policy, and medical research. There's biodiversity loss and the health of the oceans and the morality of balancing destruction of species against human needs and expenses, there's population and development and clean energy research, there's food supply and GMO crops and educating children to compete in the new global economy and secur ing competitive jobs. Science issues are moral issues.
Is it time to make our voices heard! DEBATE SCIENCE!
A concerned citizens initiative now cosponsored by the AAAS, the Council on Competitiveness, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine, and signed by over 135 leading American universities and other organizations.
Given the many urgent scientific and technological challenges facing America and the rest of the world, the increasing need for accurate scientific information in political decision making, and the vital role scientific innovation plays in spurring economic growth and competitiveness, we call for a public debate in which the U.S. presidential candidates share their views on the issues of The Environment, Health and Medicine, and Science and Technology Policy.
My friends my apologizes. As most of you know JohnnyV has been having issues of recent. It was a nasty SQl error that has been fixed with gracious help of Mr. Tex and his ninja like geek skills. Please join me in a moment of silence for the 6 comments we lost in the chaos. In recent months I have come to understand the value of time, we all need more.
We are back! I’ve got some great stuff to post as I know a few of you have been itching to as well. I also have a sneak peek of things to come, in the coming weeks we should be taking on new contributors.

Mr. O O.. O.. O..
Whether or not you are a Packer's fan you will enjoy this article. At ten pages long it is one of the best stories on Favre I have ever read.
From the article: "There is no happier place than Green Bay, Wis., on a Sunday evening after the Packers have won. The beer tastes better, the girls are even prettier, and few seem to notice the bite in the air. In a town defined by its team, civic temperament can be quantified on a scoreboard. A few weeks ago, in the moments after the Packers had defeated the Carolina Panthers 31-17 at Lambeau Field, the parking lot was alive with merriment. Kids in number 4 jerseys and GOT BRETT?…"
I will be in Green Bay this weekend to watch them play the Oakland Raiders. This story and honor only makes this amazing year that much better! And as always, GO PACK GO!
If you are a Packers fan you will appreciate this. There is a young family that moved from Sydney, Australia just to follow the Packers around the country for a year. It's a great story and well worth a few minutes of checking out the site and especially the youtube videos. They will also be featured on tonight's edition of Inside the NFL on HBO.
